This is one of the best clamps/straight edge that I have ever purchased. I use it mostly for a Saw/Router guide. I wish I would have had them years ago. Anyone who has trouble setting up or using one of these SHOULD NOT BE AROUND POWER TOOLS OR IN A WOODWORKING SHOP.
It does everything I ask of it, but not always square upon setup. Check for square before the cut. I'd buy it again.
Be careful that you have the toggle handle in the right position when you snug the guide up (in other words, before you flip it tight). I use this frequently. Originally bought to trim about a dozen doors, I've found it is the handiest cutting guide I have. If it's out of position, you'll think it's tight when you flip the handle, but it will slip. Do it right and it holds perfectly.
Using this clamp guide is quick and easy and reliable. I check it all over very carefully and it just never got a grip. I purchased th 36" for smaller jobs using the router and powered hand saw. The 50 and 90 are perfect to rip a 4X8 sheet of plywood. I really like this straight edge/clamp system. It has been returned. Nothing appeared damaged or out of place. This one didn't work right out of the box.
It just didn't work. One the wider model this is not an issue. I purchased a 36", a 50" and the 99" wide model. So maybe I got lemon but there is something wrong or missing, or in the quality control in the 36" model. They provide a dead on straight guide.Make sure you use the narrower models as a guide and not put a lot of side pressure on them or they will bow ever so slightly. The reason for the 4 stars. Thus the 4 stars. Update:The replacement arrived and it works just fine, I really like these clamps and find a variety of ways to use.
I have started saving atleast 10 mins on every straight cut. Routing is made so easy with this wonderful little gem. Lay it over, clamp it and forget about it until the cut is complete. This is great for small projects, if you need to cut the 4x8 sheets, I would recommend the 50" clamp.
